OpenAI has recently released its latest build of text-to-video AI technology. This announcement and subsequent release evoke both amazement and concern. Sora enables you, with just a few keystrokes, to create any environment with any action in seconds—an artificial rendering of a car driving on a mountain, a view of an ant’s life underground, or a beautiful panorama of a sprawling city. Your imagination is the limit.

While this new technology is exciting and its potential for the coming years is unfathomable, there are dark concerns. Firstly, the potential loss of jobs that this kind of technology can bring is horrifying. All types of jobs could be eliminated with this technology, including animators, storyboard artists, graphic designers, and the list goes on.

Another issue pertains to legality. With this technology, bad actors can potentially create visuals of any person they want conducting any action they choose. This could lead to innocent individuals being falsely incriminated based on footage that isn’t even real.

Overall, the technology behind OpenAI’s Sora is fascinating and has the potential to do a lot of good in the world. However, I believe stringent regulations need to be passed in order to make the best use of this new technology.
